Workshop on the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres  
     
  The main objective of this workshop is to provide the participants with an in depth overview of the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres best practices, instruction on the concepts, methods and processes that are incorporated within the Code of Conduct and advices on how to implement the best practices of the code to manage energy efficiency in data centres and how organisations/data centres can become a Participant or Endorser and understand the values of each role type.

Mr. John Booth, a senior Consultant, from COWI, BELGIUM, is the resource person for this workshop. Participants of the workshop will acquire the following skills and knowledge:-
  1. Understand the economic & business requirements for developing the Code of Conduct for Data Centres

  2. An in depth overview of the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres best practices

  3. Instruction on the concepts, methods and processes that are incorporated within the Code of Conduct and advises on how to implement the best practices of the code to manage energy efficiency in data centres.

  4. Learn how to become a Participant or Endorser and understand the values of each role type.

  5. A comprehensive review of the Code of Conduct as an energy efficiency management solution and discusses the requirements and considerations for incorporating it as an energy efficiency management initiative for data centres.

  6. Describe the key elements of a successful programme of change based on the Code of Conduct for Data Centres.

  7. Know how to adopt the tenets of Code of Conduct for Data Centres within your organization

  8. Report and monitor energy eficiency as recommended within the Code of Conduct for Data Centres.

The workshop will also cover the ISO 50001 standards which are also considered as an initial response to the accelerated rising power consumption of Data Centres. ISO 50001 provides a framework for establishing energy management best practice to help organisations to improve their energy efficiency in a logical, controlled and systematic way. By achieving certification to ISO 50001, an organisation will be able to reap numerous benefits such as energy cost savings, reduced greenhouse-gas emissions and carbon footprint, improved operational efficiencies and so on.
